Superbowl Quick Hits

Sorry we’ve been on hiatus lately. Luke was in LA, Chris was transitioning into the latter half of his Showtime years, and then we had to give this annoying chick directions to Firefly (inside jokes are awesome). ANYWAY, we’re back now, and better than ever(ish). Here are our quick hit thoughts on Super Bowl 44/XLIV(?):

Satisfying super bowl. A great game 3 years in a row. Couldn’t believe how fast the game was moving either. Very clean. Only a few penalties. Every drive was either a 3 and out or a score. Most of the timeouts were saved ‘til the end. There were no unnecessary hang-ups .

Chris hung out with Johnathan Vilma on new years eve like 4 years ago. Nitro brought him to their new years party. He had a great post-season.

Chris won the “other” bet. The last touchdown of the game was something other than a passing touchdown, rushing touchdown, field goal, or safety. 22-1. Lock.

Sean Payton has feminine eyes. Or something.

What’s more memorable about THE onside kick: the kick itself or the 10-minute pileup afterwards?

We think Pierre Thomas didn’t go down on a first hit once all night.

After Nola went up 13-10 Manning led an insane drive. The 25 or so yard pass to Dallas Clark in quintuple coverage might be the best pass we’ve ever seen.

We hit a sick 4-prop parlay. Reggie Wayne’s first catch under 10.5 yards, Reggie Bush’s first catch over 5.5 yards, Drew Brees throws no interceptions, and the longest touchdown of the game over 1.5 yards. Trying to decide how to spend my 400 dollars. Ideas slowly coming to me. First one was Peter Lugers steak house. Second one just came to me: Lobster rolls. Whatever it is, it looks like I’m gonna end up eating my earnings.

Why aren’t there prop bets for all games?

Come on, Reggie (Wayne). You’re going to the hall of fame. Make that last catch.

Hartley’s big time. Mad clutch. Stover’s not.

This game helps Brees a lot more than it hurts Peyton. That said, we both kind of feel like they played similar levels of football. That was such a great pick by Tracy Porter that it seems like a waste of time trying to determine if it was Peyton or Reggie’s fault. It was an incredible defensive play.

“I took half out ‘cuz I got scared.” That’s what she said.

“Let’s make it do what it do baby” – Deion Sanders talking about I don’t know what.

Ghiradelli brownies. None of that gluten-free shit. We don’t fuck around. Props to the green goblin. (Over/Under 3.5 people who get all those references).

The Tebow commercial ended up not being a big deal at all.

Freeney was a man out there. He played real hard in the first half. Maybe that’s why the
Saints offense was struggling in the first quarter. Maybe Freeney was making that big of a difference.

Seems like it was super close to being a Colts blowout. If the Colts went up that extra score in the first half or gotten good field position after recovering the onside kick, would the Saints still have been able to hang with them?

Between the Colts, Saints, and Vikings, we’re not completely sure who we think was the best team in football this season.
