Scheduling committee came through big time in week 4:
1:00 pm – Baltimore @ New England
4:00 pm – New York Jets @ New Orleans
Sun Night – San Diego @ Pittsburgh
Mon Night – Green Bay @ Minnesota
ill.
FRESH TO DEATH
New York Giants – They looked great against a bad team. That’s all right for now though. They don’t play a good team until the Saints in week 6 (in New Orleans…sick).
Baltimore Ravens – McGahee leads the league in touchdowns scored. A RAVEN leads the league in touchdowns scored.
WORD
New Orleans Saints – A mediocre game from Brees didn’t matter. Pierre Thomas is back and clearly the best runner on the team. Huge battle coming this weekend with the 3-0 Jets.
New York Jets – Offense kind of stalled after going up 14-0 right away, but Sanchez continues to make plays when the team needs it. He’s clearly the leader of the squad. Huge battle coming this weekend with the 3-0 Saints.
New England Patriots – A solid win vs. the previously unbeaten Falcons. Brady was slightly off on some deep balls in the 1st half, but he got it together as game progressed. He probably should’ve had another TD pass, but Galloway stepped out of the end zone. Freddy Taylor looked great with 100+ yards on the ground. Welker and Mayo are coming back soon. They’re fine.
Indianapolis Colts – If the defense shows up they’re as good as anyone in the league.
Pittsburgh Steelers –They’re supposed to find ways to win these close games, not ways to lose them.
Philadelphia Eagles – The scheduling gods were on their side. They drew the Chiefs the week before their bye with their 2 best players (McNabb/Westbrook) out. With those two healthy in 2 weeks the Eagles will be real tough to handle…until they get hurt again.
Minnesota Vikings – What a play! Didn’t love their performance throughout the game though, but maybe that’s more of a testament to San Francisco than anything the Vikings were doing. Green Bay coming to town Monday night. That’s must see TV.
San Diego Chargers – Vincent Jackson is awesome. They used to just spread it around. One game it would be Chambers, the next it would be Jackson, sometimes even Malcolm Floyd. Now they have a true #1 receiver.
Green Bay Packers – Still kind of an enigma. Squeaked by the Bears, lost to the Bengals, and then a less than stellar performance against the Rams. The defense looked really good in the preseason and that first game against the Bears. Was that a fluke?
SOMEWHERE BETWEEN WORD AND AIGHT
Chicago Bears – This is the Jay Cutler the Bears want and need. He spread the ball around, took what the defense gave him, and then took a few shots down the field. They’re also getting solid contributions from opposing teams’ place-kickers.
Atlanta Falcons – Not excited about this defense. The Pats could’ve put up a lot more points if they were clicking on all cylinders.
San Francisco 49ers – Gore is expected to miss up to 3 weeks. Glen Coffee looked kind of terrible filling in. Then again, it was against the best run-defense in the league. He was the darling of the preseason. Maybe they’ll be fine.
Cincinnati Bengals – They’re one freak tipped ball from being undefeated. What a huge win for this team vs. the champs. Carson Palmer was phenomenal on that final drive. The whole team was. Ask anyone on that team (off the record) and I’m sure they’ll tell you it was an especially meaningful victory. Big confidence builder.
Tennessee Titans – Best 0-3 team in the league.
Dallas Cowboys – Gruden was kind of hyping up the Cowboys “momentum.” We didn’t see much we liked about the Cowboys’ performance. It was an ugly game for both sides. The Panthers were just…uglier.
Seattle Seahawks – Decent effort against the Bears. Seneca Wallace actually wasn’t bad. Jim Mora tried to blame the loss on the kicker, which seems ridiculous. Yeah, he missed 2 field goals and they lost by six, but the four field goals he made accounted for the final 12 of the Seahawks 19 points. He should have made them, but Mora was out of line.
Houston Texans – The defense is clearly not playoff caliber. You cannot give up 30+ points to the Jags offense. Schaub is looking pretty money though.
Jacksonville Jaguars – We told them to open it up. They listened. They won. That’s what we do here at TheHellerBoyz.
AIGHT
Arizona Cardinals – Psh.
Denver Broncos – Knowshon Moreno is legit and he’s going to keep getting a little better each week. The defense still hasn’t really been tested. Brandon Marshall might be back (finally). What’s wrong with Eddie Royal?
Buffalo Bills – Does anyone know how far it is from Ithaca to Buffalo?
Carolina Panthers – Oy. Luke feels bad for them.
Detroit Lions – Congratulations Detroit Lions. You now have more NFL wins in your last 20 games than we do. Kevin Smith almost certainly holds the records for most games played, most carries and most yards rushed before ever winning an NFL game.
YOU’RE NOT GOOD
Washington Redskins – We don’t even have a joke here. Wait, yeah we do…the Washington Redskins.
Miami Dolphins – Chad is out for the year. We don’t think they’ll be much better with Chad.
Oakland Raiders – Paging Mr. Gradkowski. Mr. Bruce Gradkowski.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers – How often do you see a black quarterback (Byron Leftwich) being backed up by a black quarterback (Josh Johnson)? Even if rookie Josh Freeman is half black, they still probably lead the league in black quarterbacks with 2.5.
Kansas City Chiefs – There’s honestly nothing to say about them. They’re bad, they have no identity, and it’s embarrassing.
Cleveland Browns – 5 Browns players have filed grievances against their coach. Great.
St. Louis Rams – We feel really bad for Steven Jackson. The guy has hall of fame talent. It’s a crime we don’t get to see him reach his full potential.
