NBA Playoff Chatter #2

Chris (April 19 3:49 pm):

Quick thoughts from the wknd-

Good job by artest and the whole team on durant. He’ll get his points, just need to make him take a lot of shots to get them. Very curious to see how the kid responds in game 2.

Russ westbrook is a man. Quickly becoming one of my favorite non-lakers in the league.

Who is this KG? Kind of feel like he’s an old dog that needs to be put down.

Melo was freakin awesome sat night. So unguardable. Using all types of shots. Think he was something like 18/25. With kirilenko out, utah has no one that can even think about bothering him. In a related story, I have melo 5 to 1 to have highest rd1 ppg.

Gerald wallace and stephen jackson can play for me anyday.

Dallas just has too many weapons for the spurs. I think the spurs trio will be fine, its their role players that don’t have that championship pedigree they used to have. There’s no bowen or horry types.

Blazers very impressive last night. Real tough, and very well coached. If they advance, really hope brandon roy is back and healthy.

Cavs by 20+ tonight. Lock.

You watchin the nba playoffs this year?

—————————

Luke (April 21 6:58 pm):

Yeah…

Kobe looks exhausted. Durant looks a tiny bit shakey. Durant’s thing
will fade. My problem with Kobe taking over games this early is that
the rest of the team isn’t being conditioned to step up on offense.
Last year Lamar went nuts in round one. Ariza basically learned to
shoot the triple over the course of the playoffs. I want the team to
use these games to learn to gel as a team. That said, I actually think
yesterday was a must win so that the team can have this learning
experience on the road with a cushion. So I’m not mad, just a little
shifty. I’ve never rooted more vehemently against a kd shot than his
three attempt with 15 sec to go.

Jo Noah slowly creeping up MY list of favorite non-lakers.

M. Cuban just said he wants to party with mikhael prokorov on PTI. We
should have them on the podcast the day after for rehashing.

Mavs/Spurs still most interesting series in the first round. Can’t
wait for tonight’s game.

Playoff scheduling is wiitarded. Why these random two day breaks to
travel from Dallas to Dallas. And having games running against each
other on tv is just insane. Someone should fix this.

The Hawks aren’t impressing me and it’s not their fault. Or maybe it
is. They just don’t look like a conference final team to me. They’re
beating up on a young, depleted team. I do love what I’m seeing from
horford. Might love ut even more if I had pulled the trigger on him in
our playoff points pool.

Does this mean the suns are back? How many games is jrich gonna play
like jrich the damaja? Grant hill went 8/8. I think that’s above
average for him. I’m not sold.

0 idea what’s going on with nuggets/jazz. Jazz have strong home court.
Taking one of the first two was big. I’m intrigued.

Hello, Boston.

Chris (April 21 7:54 pm):

Good to see you’re involved.

I can’t believe I had to move into ‘intense viewing position’ (sitting upright at the edge of my couch instead of my usual reclined legs up position) with 2 minutes to go in game 2 of round 1 vs the fucking thunder. That’s all I really have to say about this series right now.

I’m taking a week off to go chill in Cleveland.

The scheduling has always been retarded. 2 games one night. 4 the next. Atl/mil played gm2 on tuesday and gm3 is on saturday. I don’t have a joke here. I should be in charge of this, along with holding the ‘universal remote’ (literally) for the ncaa tournament and football sundays.

I think portland will beat the suns, but I was at a KRS-ONE show last night and didn’t see any of the game.

Fesenko! Miles! Price! Matthews! Ladies and gentlemen, you’re 2010 Utah Jazz. They may pull this off, although I think Denver wins it in the end. Either way, the Lakers got a really really lucky draw.

Who do you think pays for the tab when Cuban and Prokorov go out?

Luke (April 26 3:02 pm):

How come lower seeds in the west are going nuts? Sure, the fact that
the Lakers have dropped 2 to the thunder makes me a lil worried, but
the mavs, a team people thought could ne the team to unseat the lakers
rulers of the west, are facing elimination after dropping three games
in a row. So my worry level hasn’t actually increased, it’s just
spread out over more teams. The west looks as even/competetive as ever.

Does any team look really good this year? Magic are dominating but
they just don’t look that good doing it. Celtics looking strong ’til
wade dropped 46(oh) on them, but that makes sense since it could have
been his last game in a heat uni. I don’t know. The cavs have had one
very dominant performance. Same for the Suns. I don’t know. It feels
sort of like march madness this year. Is this what parity in the NBA
looks like?

Chris (April 27 12:52 am):

This convo series is like ‘if a tree falls in the woods…’.

I said to someone one of the last couple nights (presumably not you) that there are no great teams playing right now. No one coming through as of yet with that championship swag. The closest to it is probably the spurs, but maybe it just seems that way because they’re the spurs.

Really gotta give it up (again) to the bucks. What a showing. I’ve always been a bogut fan since he’s been on my keeper league squad the past 4yrs, but I think I’m liking him even more seeing him on the bench every night. He’s involved. He’s singing, dancing, cheering. The bradley center in general seems like a cohesive unit.

Very happy the celtics have made me very excited for cavs/celts.

Is it possible we see a #7 seed vs a #8 seed in the western conf finals??

Scoring avg leaders so far (I have melo 5 to 1 if I haven’t mentioned)
Lebron 35
Melo 34.5
Wade 33.8

Tomorrow night is an ILL lineup.

Luke (April 27 3:47 pm):

You see Grant Hill won sportsman of the year award? wouldn’t be surprised to hear formula is technical fouls divided by minutes played. can we bet on this? it would be perfect for the lock fund.
